Folashade Alli (Nee Afe-Babalola)

Folashade Alli is a practicing Solicitor and Chartered Arbitrator. She obtained a degree in Bachelor of Laws (LLB) with second class upper division honours from University of Lagos in 1984 and was called to the Nigerian Bar as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in 1985.
She obtained a master’s degree (LL.M) in Corporate and Commercial law from the University College, London in 1987. She was admitted into the Bar of England & Wales in 1990 and is a member of the distinguished Lincolns Inn, London.
Folashade Alli is a Chartered Arbitrator, and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, (“CIArb”), UK, with over 35 years’ experience cutting across Commercial legal practice and International Arbitration. She is the founder and Principal Partner of Folashade Alli & Associates, a full-service law firm. Her international arbitration practice encompasses commercial and investment disputes in construction, oil & gas, maritime, energy, finance, intellectual property, and ICT.
Folashade, a Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR) Accredited Mediator, since 2012, has served as a Mediator in several commercial, construction, and property development disputes and is also an approved Mediator with the Lagos State Multi Door Courthouse.
As Nigeria’s representative on the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR, Folashade is also a member of the ICC Commission Task Force on Corruption in International Arbitration. She is currently an Executive Committee Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) UK (Nigeria Branch) and sits on the Professional Conduct Committee of the Institute at the headquarters in London. She is the immediate past Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Branch of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) UK and also an Approved Tutor of the Institute. Folashade Alli is the Chairperson of the Professional Ethics Committee, as well as Treasurer, of the Nigerian Bar Association Section on Legal Practice.
Folashade Alli has been a frequent speaker at local and international conferences and trainings, including the Young ITA talks on the advancements in Arbitration Practice in Africa, Mexico and Central America 2020, Meeting of the International Commercial Disputes Committee of the New York Bar 2019, and the 4th ICC Africa Regional Arbitration Conference on International Arbitration 2019.
Folashade speaks English and French fluently.
